Hello Everyone:

As many of you know, i have been kinda absent from EQ due to RL. Part of the reason RL is keeping me busy is because I just went back to school after 4 years and for one of my classes i have a project due for my calligraphy and typography class. Lemme Explain:

From Class Handout:

" Virtual Mind is a new company and it is whatever you think it is. Probably in line with some sort of software or computer service or item. The company will be in need of a logo to represent the company. Create a Series of notes for your research (newspaper, magazines and internet). You will be turning in all research with your project

Since we could pick whatever we wanted the company to be I have decided that my company " Virtual Mind" is a company that designs PC games. Not concentrated on a specific age group but in people of all ages. Our goal will be to not only captivate the mind of the user but to help them develop intellectually according to age level and help them (by the means of a fun video game) to increase their intellectual level.

Now here is what i was thinking could work. You are my friends here and i need yer input. Plz tell me your name ( RL, EQ, Imaginary, whatever you want but i have to have a name) and Age group and give me " Ideas " or " Opinions " on what you think our newest Game should be like. Think of it as an individual or as a parent since we also hope to target toddlers and help them develop since a young age.
What kind of game do you think our newest product should be about?

Please Help me by responding and not only viewing since i will type this out and turn it in as my "research" paper where the company looked to tune in into the intellectual level of people of different ages.

Thanks a Lot! I hope you guys can give me awesome feed back!

< hugs! >

Liz

Alrighty then i guess i'll be more specific than just a paragraph :P

I need if possible please:

1) Name (As said, any name, dont have to be RL name)

2) Age Group ( I was thinking to classify them 5 by 5, as in 0-5years, 5-10years old, 10-15 etc. )

3) What Country you live in if outside the USA? And IF in the USA, what State you live in?

4) What type of video game subject would captivate your mind the most? ( You personally ) Mainly what subject would you like our company to help you develop? ( Math Skills? Reading? Spelling? Biology? Science? History? Logic? Foreign Languages? etc... )

5) If you have children. List their ages and what subject would you like us to help you develop in them? (Maybe a Tutorial Video Game, where they are playing a video game w/out realizing how much they are actually learning is what we have in mind. For example: like taking a toon on a wild hunt around the world only after they respond to certain clues to help them learn logic, math and geography)

6) If you have any additional comments you may feel free to express them, be it possitive or negative as we need as much imput as possible.

Thank You. Hope that explains things a little better.

I been rackin my brain trying to come up with a quality answer, and all I can come up with is a reinforcement of why i'm not in school anymore :)

Anyway, here's your info:
1) Ryan
2) 20-25
3) Illinois
4) The most captivating game i've played in recent memory (other than EQ) is Metal Gear Solid 2 -- it possesses a mix of action, logic, observational skills, timing, and control. By far one of the most challenging and engaging games i've seen to date, and the reason I haven't been on EQ lately ;)

What I look for in a game to play is not necessarily what i'll learn from it, but what it'll give me, fun-wise... anything I learn from playing would just be a bonus. When I was a kid, I played a lot of video games, and the ones that stood out then are the ones that had massive replay value. Nowadays is no exception, it's all about the enjoyment of playing, the challenge of winning, and everything in between.

Some of my favorite games of all time, to let you know what someone like me would look for: Metroid, The Legend of Zelda, Duck Hunt (yes, duck hunt), MGS (1 & 2), Tekken Tag, Dynasty Warriors 2, Tetris, and Monster Rancher.

Since what you're looking to accomplish is educational in nature, Obviously a skill would be needed to teach -- I think logic is the best choice, as you can never have too much of a background in rational thinking, and it's woefully underaddressed in schools. A fun game that forces you to think, and at times think hard, would be perfect... with the right mix of action thrown in to make it more entertaining.

Hope this helps at all! :)

4. i know there is a name for it, i just can't think of what it is. you know how in some games, you can run around and shoot innocent people? like grand theft auto. you can just run up and shoot a 60 year old woman in the head and steal her car. a game that teaches people to listen to their concience (sp), teaches them right from wrong. compassion, mercy, all that crap. i am not saying this is the kind of game that i would like to play, but if your making a company that designs educational games, why not design a game that teaches impressionable kids to become a useful member of society? you can gain points, money, whatever for doing things that would help your community. advance farther by making your town a better place.

god, i hope that makes sense to you, Yad. i'm not real good at putting what i am thinking down on paper...or message boards. =P
