These zone-specific experience changes are more than offset by the increased group bonus. //////////// unless you solo//////////
4) Experience range increase for characters above 60th level. This is another change that we are testing and anticipate moving to the Live servers. It will open up many of the "old world" zones to players previously restricted to Planes of Power zones for experience gain. The range of NPCs that will be "blue" to a level 65 character has increased as far as level 50, with the "light blue" range extending to level 45. The best experience gains, however, are still going to be for fighting things around and above your level. This will open up areas for high level characters in groups and solo. ////// In other words, greenies will now be light blue, and light blue will be dark blue. Since the level of the mob isnt rising, and that nerf on exp from a mob that isnt within 5 levels of you is still in effect, the new dark blues wont be worth killing. It's a placebo.//////
The other stuff is cool, but I still cant figure out why people are excited about these two items. Anyway, that's my 2cp.

Hiyas!
I'd have to admit soloing can be cool, but detracts from the true essence of EQ. Built to be a multi-player game, soloing isnt really soloing unless you can do it on your OWN. Meaning... your own buffs. "Donating" for Virtue/C3+ ,etc is now seen as an abuse to the planned aspect of those group buffs. Group buffs were designed to ease the casters ability/time to benefit the "group", too often this has been used otherwise and Sony finally wants to do something about it.
Since it is not wise to eliminate group buffs (IE raids, etc) This change is the answer they came up with. Which, I feel, is a good answer.
This allows more people to be involved in various zones, hence helping eliminate some frustration due to so many seeking playtime, but only to be reduced to sitting LFG because a certain class decided to claim a camp as his/her own. Sony wants the revenue from as many as they can get! Turning off people because they cannot join in on the "nicer" zones action is not their idea of continued monthy income.
Thats just how I see it. Sure, I use group buffs to my characters advantage as many do, yet the solution Sony has created makes sense for the benefit of the many, not the soloers.
Hee hee this "answer" is much easier for them to implement over (hmm lets say) reduce the beneficial timeframe of a group buff to remain only 25% if the original caster no longer remains in the group/raid over a possible time period of 15 minutes. (accounting for LD's or Disco's, as other gamers call them due to players being 'Disco'nected.)
I believe this is the right answer and would rather play with others towards our xp goal, over seeing other people playing with themselves.
Wouldn't all of us rather this answer, over finding out Sony decided to 'nerf' certain classes? They do not want that negative feedback, they want people to enjoy the game and play with others and keep the money flowing in.
[Deleted addressing, as it was not intended to offend, but just a viewpoint in general :) ]

Ya I don't like watching other people playing with themselves either. But I do like the new spell stuff and shared bank slots that is kinda cool the lost in solo xp does not upset me too much even though I do spend sometime soloing its just not worth getting that upset over. Anyways we will have to see how it all works out. I mean the last update that was suppose to fix the xp that soloers got I did not even notice. It might just be because I do not pay that much attention I just kill and hope my blue line moves.

No, it isnt worth get upset over...it's a game, lol. I also understand the theology of why it's a good thing. I also personally know people that are lvl 60+ in the guild and out whose playing time doesnt allow them three hours to lfg, which is why they picked a soloing class. We're on this ding 65, ding 65 thing, and that's great, but where is the casual player that I mentioned above going to exp at now...the only viable place is PoP, and after they lower the level of mob that will con dark blue, the only viable place will still be PoP. I'm not a casual player, I rarely solo, but I'm worried about the friends/guildies that do because they don't play enough to be able to afford lfg for 2 hours or more. I remember the past experience changes, and they had to undo them because casual players were getting the smack down, and I'm just hoping this isnt going to be like that . The patch message was like " blah, blah, have had more of an effect on the casual player than intended, and although blah blah group oriented game, we realize that players without the time needed for organizing a group, blah , blah" and it was fixed after a few weeks. As far as that group buff thing, they already have it in the works for that to not be able to be mgb or group buffed to people under a certain level. I totally agree and feel no sympathy for lvl 30-40 that use buffs too high for their level in order to facilitate soloing. I had better than c3 self buffed and lifetaps to compensate for hp buff at that level, so I know you dont mean necros. (sony advertised necros as powerful soloers....find your original or maybe even kunark booklet you got when you bought the game cd and look up necromancer class :P)
Anyways, I'm not upset about the thing, it isnt going to affect me much, as I dont solo. For some people, that's their only option though, and I feel bad for them.......As far as more people being involved in various zones from the patch, mobs in seb are gonna be dark blue, and so will a lot of kc mobs....but their level will be the same. If this change is so good, why will I not see a level 62-65 amichian exp grouping there. Because you'll see all those yellow you've gained exp emotes but you wont see your exp increase, that's why. Of course, the game isnt about experience...it's about grouping and getting to know people...friendship. So, after this goes live lets have an exp group in < insert random zone with dark blue mobs that give .000000001% exp here> at about 8pm est on tuesday. See yall there.
A lot of other changes that are being made are awesome, and I look forward to em. These two are sucky in my opinion, and will not work " as intended". I'm not the only person in the guild who feels this way, but after seeing me get flamed on a bit I think I'll be the only person to post about it, lol. Anyway, It's going live, no use debating it anymore. I'm done ranting...for now.

I did not mean to flame on you if that is what you think I did. I do agree that changeing the mobs to con dark blue and then have the best xp from mobs +- 5 levels of you is not going to work. and I am not sure about the new group xp think simply because I really don't play as much as I would like to but it will be something I will have to see if it works or not for me. Again I am sorry that you think I flamed on you was not what I mean't to do.
