To play or not to play that is the question. and will Amichi be there?

I know that I will try it out, at least in beta. I've played a lot of games in beta that I couldn't quit EQ for. Star Wars. AC2. Horizons. Wi.. er that one's under NDA still, nm.

Perhaps once the game is in beta and we know more about it, we can post a survey to see how people fall out.

I will try it at some point to see how it plays. Think I will wait about 6months after release though to be sure it has some time to get polished up and have bugs fixed/proper nerfs made.

I would love to see Amichi on it though if it is good :)

A condition I made with some of my military friends was to choose the server named Cazic-Thule. If there is no CT server then we would pick the first server with a C as the first letter. If no server begins with the letter C then D, then E then etc until a server is found.

As long as Amichi is still strong, I will continue to support the guild. I'm not going to "switch" unless we have a major decrease in participation and people stop achieving and setting goals.

I'm here with Amichi because it's a positive feedback loop. The more people get interested in Amichi and EQ, the more people get interested in Amichi and EQ...

BTW, if we do play, this is a good rule of thumb to use. All Amichi members, PLEASE follow these guidelines, and tell your friends the same thing.

I couldn't wait to jump to EQ2... when I was in a declining guild. Now that I've found a "new family" in EQ1, great friends, great content, great raids -- I'm not in any hurry. I hope it takes a while for it to release.

If I have my facts right, "Beta1" is for SoE and family members only. "Beta2" is for Legends subscribers and dorks that bought Lords of Everquest and registered it to their Sony Station account (which I did). So I've applied for that but it hasn't started. "Beta3" is for any existing EQ1 subscriber, I applied for that one too, and apps are now closed, but I've heard nothing back on that app either.

Beta2 has not yet started, near as I can tell.

I didn't think there was a chance in heck that EQ1 would be much fun for much longer, but joining you guys has made it a blast again.

I plan to give the Beta(s) the minimum amount of my attention that I can, still focusing on Amichi here. When EQ2 is in full production, then it will be a very tough decision for me, because I'm quite sure I don't have time to do both games justice. Right now, I'm having so much fun here that it might be worth giving up on my chance to be "one of the first" in EQ2, and stay with my investment in my existing toons.

I hope our guild gives some more thought to our "migration plan" as EQ2 moves from vaporware and people here get more interested in playing. Besch's "stay on the same server" suggestion is a great start.

I am an officer in the second oldest EQ2 pre-guild. I had quit EQLive because it had become stagnant and a waste of time and money for me to log in. Bawd had kept me up to date on what was going on here and convinced me to come back and give it a shot once again. I have not regretted that decision for one moment. I am once again enjoying EQLive, as I hadn't in a very long time, thanks to my new family, Amichi.

But I will be leaving EQLive when EQ2 is released. A server hasn't been chosen, but we will be a Qeynos based guild. I am not trying to recruit anyone away from Amichi, or EQLive, only offering a home for anyone interested.

Yes, Beta1 is Friends and family. It also has a FEW legends folks in it.
Next phase is beta2 which is the legends folks.
I believe that that will be closely followed by the pre-orders.

I'm not supposed to say anything about the EQ2 beta, but if anyone has questions, I will try to answer them, as long as it stays here.

If it was 2 years ago and I was able to play 6-8 hours a day again, I might consider switching games. As it stands right now, I don't see me having the time to invest in starting all over.

WoW is a great game, imo, but, it seems kind of easy sometimes. While it's great to be able to log in and go solo and get stuff done, I don't feel the sense of accomplishment that I felt when I killed Vindi the first time.. or Sont or.. insert big ass mob name here..

Online gaming is cheap family entertainment for me (and with a family as big as mine, it better be cheap!). I find it much more enjoyable to play with friends and have common goals and ideas than it is to play solo in some nice shiny game. I will be where my friends are. We can decide together where that is, but that's where I'll be.

Low-level WoW is too easy. There's very little need to group up with folks except to take on larger quest mobs. Otherwise, soloing is fairly quick and efficient.

Also, items don't seem to have any personality. I know that doesn't make a lot of sense, but with EQ, I got a sense of depth and history with every uniquely named piece, like the mithril runed bracer.

I always wondered, what runes were on it? Who made it? Can you make other stuff out of mithril? Why is it purple? Why is it wearable by druids, and has the plate appearance, yet druids can't wear other plate armors? Because it's mithril?

Or because it's purple?

Deep thoughts, man.

Anyone that's in the EQ2 beta (*cough* Ramsus) please post some screenshots with some gear, and inspecting a piece of gear. Part of the fun of EQ1 was mixing and matching gear to get the results you wanted, aesthetically and practically.
