Collector's Edition rewards

There's a PDF file available for download that includes some information not previously released about EQ2 as far as I know.

Information from the PDF:

The collector's edition of EQ2 comes on DVD only and includes;

- a "spell book" DVD holder
- a bonus DVD with art of some kind
- an exclusive art book
- cloth map
- collectible coin with cloth pouch

AND an "in game" reward: "massive player housing reward", whatever that means.

The normal CD and DVD editions also include "player housing rewards" but not "massive."

I guess SOE is really going all out with promotion for EQ2, including trailers being aired at Regal Cinema movie theaters.

Also, SOE will release demo discs AND a "starter disc" for pre-orders that includes the ability to create your character prior to release.

Sounds like some interesting stuff, and VERY heavy marketing compared to other video games. I've never seen a videogame advertised on this kind of scale before.

When you spend the kind of money developing EQ2 that they have, and to now be faced witht he very real issue of their companies poor performance impacting sales, they have to do something. it's unfortunate that instead of trying to retain their current customer base, they are spending the money to try to get a new customer base.
