Yesterday while logged onto EQ, I had problems going LD. After one of these, I decided to bypass my router and connect straight to the modem. Well, after logging off of EQ, I reconnected to the router, and low and behold, I had no internet connection. After countless attempts to figure out what is wrong, I've learned that I can use the wireless connection for it, but none of the four ports in back will connect. That wouldn't be all that big of a deal, but my PS2 uses one of the ports and I can't say I really like using a wireless connection. Anyone have any ideas other than it's a piece of junk and replace it?

have you tried unplugging the power cord and the pluggin back in your modem if it is seperate from your computers as well as rebooting the computer you have directly connected to the router? :fez: :bookworm:

Have you tried connecting with different computers and cables to try to check for bad cable/NIC on your PC?

Routers are pretty cheap these days. Wireless Linksys WRT54G is like $60 shipped from a few places right now, and it has cool firmware you can download that adds lots of functionality, like a signal booster, etc.

I tried cables and all. It basicly came down to the ports in back went bad as far as I can tell and made a trip to Best Buy today to pick up a new one. Everything is all happy again minus the $60 I had to spend.

I've had similar problems with my router as well. I have 2 dead ports out of 4. Soon, I'm sure the others will do dead as well. just a matter of time. I wish I had better advice. Try the cold-boot (unplugging) but your router may just be dead.

Hope you picked up the Led Zeppelin DVD while you were there!

Hmmm, I had a similar problem with my router a while back. Turned out some virus or something got into computer an uninstalled all the router-related software, tried doing a whole bunch of crap before that but that finally fixed it when I reinstalled it.
