Alaska with 31,383 miles of shoreline.

hehe. I just saw this question on some site this week and the answer it gave was minnesota.
A followup was posted saying that Alaska was the correct answer. But, depending on how the person defines 'shoreline' or 'coastline' makes all the difference in the world.
Minnesota's lakes aren't included in most 'coastline' equations, but generally is accepted as the winner when the question refers directly to "beaches'. Obviously, Alaska has very little beach property ;)
Anyway, as soon as i read this question this morning, i knew the answer you wanted was Minn but having just read the article, I knew that was debatable. ;)
I tried looking for gov pages on shoreline, but they all use the term coastline.

with the most shoreline... I think it would have to be all the Hawaiian Islands, A) because they are entirely surrounded by them and B) I believe there are 7 islands, not positive b/c I've never been there or studied it. I do think it might be Hawaii, otherwise, Flordia.

If you count the great lakes states, I woulda thought that Michigan would have more shorline, but mebe I'm wrong.

From what I read, it is Minnesota. However, if Alaska ever charted out and measured all the lakes and inlets that it possesses, it would probably have the most shoreline. Once again, this is what I read.
