I have a lvl 38 wizard friend that has an intrest in starting a guild with his friends.
His friends are mostly lvl 10-15 and 25 years of age or older (2-4 people)
He has presented himself to me as a mature adult that likes to play eq with friends.
I would like for him and his friends to join us in EQ2. We have a low friend count at any given time and I would like to see that increase.
If him/they were to join I would make him a corespondence officer to initiate us with them. He also has website knowledge and could help us in the future making a eq2 website.
He is "evil" based and would also be able to help us with that side of the game. (as we have learned recently evil characters can do writs toward our guild status)
Please post how you feel about this, negative or positive.

Is there some reason that he would not just join the Amichi guild? The other alliance that we have only ever has Nephew and Surfgnome in it (Yumdar and Wheeman), and conversations are very short.
I don't really have a problem (so call me neutral), im just not sure whether "alliances" really add any value.
As for the writs - I am growing convinced that doing writs in any volume requires a guild group to complete them. I cannot complete any solo until the mobs are 5 levels below me or have greyed out. I have no problem solo killing green group ^^ mobs because it is excellent experience and good loot, but this means I am limited in getting 4 writs every 5 levels. I am sure SOE intends this - as the idea of a guild soloing writs makes zero sense. The guild is still too small to achieve any kind of regular guild group yet and although I never have a problem getting a group outside the guild, they do not want to do my writs for me (go figure!!).

I should have worded that different I guess, what I WAS getting at was to add them to guild. He is confering with his friends on if they want to join while I am confering with you all if you would/wouldnt want them, have reservations, questions for them etc.
As for the writs, the more I have looked into the ones for my level the more soloable ones I have found. Over 35 writs are handed out all the way to lvl 50 (from what I have read) and at lvl 37 I was already able to find at least one writ from each of the 4 city taskers in Qeynos that can be soloed in a reasonable amount of time, solo mobs ranging in level from 35 to 40...and they are "solo spawns" meaning you dont have to worry about a group mob repopping in the camp spot. One writ only has 2 spawn spots, one has 3, one has 5 and one has about 15, obviously the ones with 5 and 15 are the fastest to do.
As for your level bracket - 30 to 34- get the writs for orc miners in Zek. There are 5 lvl 33-34 solo mobs at the bottom of the mine shaft elevator. They are stationary spawns and do not respawn group mobs. There is another writ for catapulters, there are 3 groups of 3 lvl 30 or 31 catapulter orcs. At lvl 33 was able to kill the 30 groups and at 34 was able to take out the lvl 31 groups. Both of these worked out great for me when I couldnt get a group. When writ is complete Call back to qeynos, get the writs again and buy a ticket back to Zek for 60 silver. By the time you are done with the writ/s call will be reset and you will have earned enough in drops for another ticket plus some...especially now that solo mobs drop adept books etc (The adept books are becoming a nice chunk of cash, the ones dropping in Ferrott are selling for 10gold each on my trader.)
Another option you might want to try, which I thought about but havent tested, is to mentor a person of the level you want your writ for and try getting the writ then. Since your level will be changed to that of the mentored the city tasker should give you a writ for that level. In the sony mentor advertisement they said you 'will be able to do quests with lower level friends', just a thought if you cant find good ones in your level category.

First off - no problems from me with more in the guild.
Second - I managed to get a few minutes this morning to finish a writ, and imagine my surprise when they now have faction....I don't know how critical this is going to be, and I don't know what kind of hit I took....3 factions went down, one went up (presumably the writ giver).
Also read up on Heritage quests, which give status points. I am trying to get the antonica (dwarven work boots) and TS ones (polished tomahawk). Finishing these should get the guild levelled 1 or 2 levels at a time.

The faction loss isnt threatening. You will never be kos or ignored by an npc from writ faction. You gain much more to the one than is lost to the other 4. If you do writs for all, they will all go up even with the hits to others. I read the only effect writ faction has is opening up different items available from the "city merchant"(status merchant) that is on that particular faction.
I did run into one status merchant that has open items to us, like the simple tradeskill equipment to put in your room. He is in qeynos harbor just before you go through the archway to the dock
About 55,000 status points raises the guild level by one with 12 patrons or less. I want to do some of the 'heritage' stuff as well for the items I would use like fbss, FB ear ring and the eye bag. Good items plus huge status points. I just been mainly workin on level figuring the higher the level the easier they will be to do.
I have heard the work boot one is pretty easy just kinda time consuming.
