This is the latest from the SOE website, a letter from John Smedley:

Recently we've undergone a lot of changes because of the changing market. We've always been quick to respond to customer issues, and we think we've come up with the perfect solution for the recent population changes.

Instead of merging a bunch of single servers with each other, we're planning to merge all servers into one server. Now, we understand that some of you might have trepidations over this for technical reasons. It will be a challenge transferring all of your data onto one machine, and for this we have enlisted the help of Google (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=April+Fool%27s+Day&btnG=Google+Search) to help put together the server farm. They are experienced professionals at load balancing and maximizing machine performance.

I'd like to thank all of our customers for staying with us through the years, and I'd like to warmly welcome all the new customers who are trying us out for the first time. Please don't concern yourself overmuch with the "Server Selection" choice when you log in for the first time; it will soon go away.

Firiona Vie and PvP server customers will be able to carry their rules with them. Their accounts will be marked with a special flag that will enable them to exercise their server rules. For example, Firiona Vie folks will be able to drop and sell No Drop items in the Bazaar. PvP players can be PK'd by anyone regardless of their pvp flag status.

We hope to continue serving you our same quality of service for many years to come. If you have any questions or comments, please add to this thread (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=April+Fool%27s+Day&btnG=Google+Search) in our Customer Service forums.

Have a great April!

In other news, Google is going to be marketing a new soft drink: http://www.google.com/googlegulp/

Slashdot has their usual slew of fake news articles for the day.

Anyone else have any Foolish links?

No links...

but Dog licenses in my hometown are now going to be charged per pound of dogflesh, Shadow (a DJ) has been replaced by the worst sounding man you could ever hope to hear on a radio, and electricity charges are being raised 40% (had to tell whether that one was true or not). Finally I heard that Oil price per barrel was rising to $104 - again, could not determine how fake that estimate was.

Fun times
