From Slashdot:

Panic Struck Productions have just released their first Star Wars movie, 'Revelations.' The movie has been produced on a not-for profit basis by a team of volunteers and is available for free download. Despite its humble origins, the production appears extraordinarily professional. The film is over 40 minutes long, complete with space battles and lightsaber fights -- need I say more? See more details at the official site, or jump straight to the download mirrors.

Here is a link to the mirrors. If you have BitTorrent, look for the BT link on that page -- that's a good way to get it, as it helps spread the bandwidth around.

I watched it, and I'd say for Star Wars fans, it's definitely worth watching. For non-fans, it is still interesting to see what a small group of independents can accomplish as far as special effects and production quality.

The acting is very good for amateurs, and the special effects is almost on par with multi million dollar blockbusters -- albeit at the low resolution of the download. Feet are often not in the scene -- a dead giveaway of extensive bluescreen/greenscreen usage. It makes post production a lot easier, since you don't have to create shadows digitally and render them onto the backdrop.

Costuming is excellent for the most part, and ship design is creative. It duplicates a lot of the style of the big studio Star Wars films.

Running time is 47 minutes, so check it out. It's better than watching another Friends rerun.

I have seen this movie, for a fan film, I thought it was very well done. Didn't think the acting was that great, but no fan film is perfect.
