As many of you may or may not know, there is a promising new MMORPG on the horizon called "Vanguard: Saga of Heroes". http://www.vanguardsoh.com
I've been very active on the message boards there, and I really anticipate that this game will encompass a majority of the spirit that went into the original Everquest, while bringing us the advanced graphics and features of a true 2005-2006 MMO.
I intend to be a part of, or possibly lead, a guild called Amichi in Vanguard. I hope that some of you retired, semi-retired, or currently active Amichi in EQ will join me/us there when it goes live.

Have you applied for beta? I did.

Yes, I did. User ID 2148.
I'm not sure if I'll get into beta1 because of the sheer number of people who applied for beta, but beta2 doesn't seem too improbable.

I received my invite to apply for beta. Havent heard anything about that yet.
Been checking out DD:O lately.. not too bad.. except I feel like im in a tutorial. I hope it opens up more. It's very linear at the moment..

That's what I hated about EQ2. It seemed like I was watching a movie where I had to click to keep the movie going. The game was a boring ride at Disneyworld, and there was no way to choose what *I* wanted to do.
I haven't gotten into DD:O beta, but it sounds like I wouldn't be very happy anyway.

Im really hoping this is just the 'get acquainted' part of the game.
You start out on a dock. You have to do some quests to take the boat to another dock. Then you have to do some quests for the guard to let you through the gate in to the town.
Quests are very much like WoW. Quest npc's standing all over with a grail above their head instead of a ! . I'm still level 1.. but considering the way D&D scales, i didn;t expect to be level 2 real quick. I believe its only going to have 10 levels at releasse. A level 10 monk in D&D was a god. they don't have monks yet.
Anywya, the graphics are pretty good. game play is a lot more then just smashing autoattack and going afk..
We'l see how it goes.

This video (http://www.silkyvenom.com/forums/showthread.php?t=590) was posted on another forum I visit. Shows that playable races as shown at E3 2005 (so, kinda old, I know :P).

10% of registered forum members at the official Vanguard site are in beta 2, yet I haven't been accepted yet. :(

For those of you who may possibly be interested in Vanguard, I have established a Vanguard Amichi forum site at http://www.amichi.us/vanguard/
I'm not trying to pull people away from EverQuest; I'd just like to make sure all of our friends have a chance to meet up on the same server when and if they try out Vanguard.
