I'm bringing you the first view of the new map interface.
Already, complete map sets are available and will be downloadable from the eq-toolbox web site.
Read more in the news forum, along with a screen shot.

The new mapping system for Everquest is a direct rip off directly from ShowEq. the ShowEq maps have been converted and work in in the new mapping system.
The map displays your map and can show your location on the map in real time. it does not show mob locations.

For most people, this will be a godsend. I'll be using it until something better comes along.

It looks like they made that map with an etch-a-sketch.

That's an incomplete map to a smallish zone.
Try a complete map of ToV, with your location updated on it. And you're a monk puller.
There are many many uses for this kind of thing, and there are already tons of pre-made maps for zones.
This will make most people cream their jeans.

When you add this map to your UI what section do you lose. I mean can you set it up so that it takes up the help drop down so that I can still use the pet one. I have never tried one of these before so thought I would ask.

It has its own button on the Window bar, and you will likely be able to configure any key combination you like to bring it up.

This isnt a ui mod from a player.. this is something SoE is adding to the game as part of the LoY expansion.

O sure, start making me erase my line in the sand. This feature alone may be enough to make me purchase LoY. At the least it has me debating my previous decision.

You need to set up port triggering for your router. If you use a Linksys router this will work:
1. Open Internet Explorer, enter http://192.168.1.1/Forward.htm in the address box and press enter.
2. You will be prompted for a username and password. By default there is no username, and the password is admin.
3. Once you've gotten past the log in you should be at the Forwarding tab. Click on the Port Triggering button.
4. Once you've done this, a new window will appear. Fill out the ports as follows:
Application name: everquest
Trigger port range: 1024-65535
Incoming port range: 1024-65535
This woirked for me but I must say when I first did this the range was recomended at 1024-9999. Perhaps the current reccomended range has been extended due to the increase in players..? don't know really. If you do not own a Linksys then try doing a search for port triggering "and your routers name" on the trech help message board at http://eqlive.station.sony.com/
Hope this helps you.

Jardean,
I have a linksys cable/dsl router, and I didn't need to setup any port ranges. I had the same problem as you, but I finally realized that it wasn't on my end it was on the cable providers end. How'd I know this? Because when I looked at my cable modem (not the router) I had only one light on (the power light), and the 2nd light should be on when you are connected and have sync with the cable network (which I didn't). So, when you go LD, take a quick look at your cable modem to see if you are still connected to the cable network. If you are, then it may be a firmware update for your linksys router. Make SURE you go to linksys.com and get the newest firmware updates for your router (especially if it's a new one). Hope that helps!

Logan had this same issue last week. I helped him fix it by setting up port triggering as described above.
