and now you can all understand why those of us in the ACTIVE ARMY regard most all that serve in the guard as...

"weekend warriors"
"dirt bags"
"dip sh**s"
"morons"
"*()&^$$)@ #$()*^#%"
"(*)&%#(^ $^$!(^#"
"insert any profanity here"

/sigh and to think its MY airfield 'ol Optimus is gonna be protecting...... pray for me please......

Why the hell would you pick now to slam any branch of the armed services? I think it's pretty shitty to slam the National Guard, Active Army or not. Aren't we on the same side? JFC.

Those weekend warriors are what are letting a lot of our active duty people head off to war. We got a whole bunch of Army National Guard at our base to guard the gates and do most of the security forces work...because our security forces guys are out in the trenches. I am glad we have them around, they are doing a hell of a lot to help us out.

But yeah, I think changing your name to Optimus Prime is about the stupidest thing you could do. Whether in the military or not.

I agree with Casi and Span... no one willing to put their life on the line for the country, whether in foreign lands or on domestic duty, should get slammed like that.

But yeah, people do stupid shit. Has nothing to do with being in the national guard, military, banking, or running a shoe store.

Every branch of service has been making fun of other branches of service for longer than any of us have been alive. Even between different jobs in the same branch. It's a pride/motivation thing that doesnt really have anything to do with actually hating another branch or person that does a different job, and all jokes pertaining to such are common and accepted workplace banter, and encouraged by leadership. ( we know you werent serious, kly :D)

I was just questioning the timing.

The story may have just been reported but I believe the name change wasn't done that recently. We can only speculate as to the date of his 30th birthday, but the man did say They razzed me for three months to no end

I would like to add something.... I have been deployed since October last year and will not be going home until July or August... Point is if it werent for the Pen. Nat. Guard I wouldnt be going home at all. they are the ones relieving us and taking over our mission here. Yes they are a valuable asset and yes they are appreciated, but as was posted there is a "friendly rivalry" between us. just like there is one between me (blackhawk) mechanic and any other military helicopter. there allways has been allways will be. it is allways in good humor and not ment to be hurtful.
