I watched the opener. It won't win awards but it is great to see the story come to life even with "Xena" type acting. It is passable and I will watch more before saying its awful.

You can catch almost the whole first season at www.hulu.com I thought they were great! The acting is a little better than Xena AND people actually are allowed to die.... sometimes even on camera. Even got to see a be-heading. Two thumbs up on this from me.

I have caught up finally to episode 12.

I even visited Terry Goodkind's website and read a little about his comments on the series and some forum comments.

The general feeling from emotional fans of the books is that too many changes have been made. Overall though the number of comments on the forum is typically a very small number of actual readers, most of which can probably not be bothered to visit websites and post comments - so you can take most of the comments, bad press etc etc with a grain of salt.

Like everything - experience it for yourself if you are a TG fan or a Sword of Truth fan.

I am impressed with the first 12. Sure - there are liberties taken, but I couldn't begin to imagine how you would convert a book to film and capture every nuance of 1000 pages and still make it watchable.

Overall - it is a great effort, with stunning scenes, believable characters and it holds true to the storyline of Wizard's First Rule. I would recommend it to any sensible fan of the books. However, if you are the kind of person that loathed the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy because you thought Golum had a voice that was not true to the book....then stay away from Legend of the Seeker.
